Tiwana Porter is the founder and CEO of MaamGetTheGram a non profit organization. It was established 2022 after her fight with breast cancer in 2021 which was found with her yearly mammogram. She was told by the doctor the tumor was the size of an orange. It was deep in the breast and there was no lumps or bumps. This news was very devastating. She had a lumpectomy and 20 weeks of chemo. The cancer was found in some lymph nodes so to prevent reoccurence chemo was needed. The road was rough however she conquered. After experiencing this battle and recognizing that she would not die from this she wants to change the statistics of mortality of this disease. Early detection is the key and she would like to provide encouragement and resources to get your mammogram. Breast cancer if detected early can be cured.
One way to help is to provide mammograms with a mobile mammogram bus. This bus will go to communities that are in need and allow them to get their mammograms. It’s so important to listen to your body, develop a healthy relationship with your doctor, and LIVE. Tiwana was diagnosed with stage 3a colon cancer November 2022 after finding blood in her stool. She did not hesitate but called her doctor and received a colonosopy. She was not the age to receive one however her doctor suggested it and she received it. This diagnosis was totally separate. There was no relation or link with the previous diagnosis of breast cancer. Tiwana is eager to share,encourage everyone to listen to your body and take care of it. You only get one and in order to carry out your purpose you want to be healthy and whole.
